Michelle van Reenen is a South African painter based in Kommetjie, Cape Town, creating original paintings, limited edition fine art prints and commissioned artworks rooted in colour, memory and the textures of lived experience. Her work is vibrant, intuitive and deeply personal, exploring the spaces between landscape, portraiture and abstraction.

Michelle creates one-of-a-kind paintings primarily on MDF offcuts and canvas, surfaces she is drawn to for their texture, character and sense of history. Through an intuitive process of layering, sanding, erasure and mark-making, imagery and meaning emerge organically. Colour is her primary language - not simply as an aesthetic choice, but as a way of remembering, processing and revealing experience.

Her limited edition giclée prints make her work more accessible while retaining the integrity of the originals. Produced in small editions on quality fine art paper, each print offers an opportunity to bring her distinctive palette and visual language into a home or space.

Michelle also creates bespoke art commissions, including portraits, pet portraits and paintings inspired by meaningful places and personal stories. She works closely with each client to create artworks that hold emotional connection and authenticity.

Michelle holds a BA Fine Arts degree from the University of Stellenbosch and has been developing her solo practice for the past six years. She works from her studio in Kommetjie, Cape Town, building her practice through curiosity, process and a trust in where the work leads.
